Email: dw2787@cumc.columbia.edu

Dr. Winetsky's research focuses on the control of HIV and viral hepatitis among people who use injection drugs with significant exposure to the criminal justice system. In particular, he is interested in novel ways to engage this marginalized population in the prevention and medical management of HIV, hepatitis C and underlying substance use disorders, as they transition between criminal justice institutions and the community, with an emphasis on peer-based behavioral interventions.
